Cardamoms are grown in the Hills of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamilnadu in elevations from 3000 to 3500 ft under shade trees around fair rainfall areas. The season is from August to February every year with five rounds of picking according to the maturity of Cardamoms. Cardamoms are dried in a closed chamber by passing heated air through pipes for 32 to 36 hrs with constant heat to maintain the green colour and are then proceeded to be graded according to size and colour.
